Well, we have arrived at June — the month of the summer solstice, also the traditional month for
weddings. Opinions vary on the reasons for the latter with the favourite being based on ancient folklore. In Roman mythology Juno was the goddess of marriage and childbirth.
Not everyone thinks in terms of June brides, of course. In our house, out of five marriages, including my own, we have only had one held in the traditional month, in a somewhat unconventional way.
Our daughter and her fiancé, both nature lovers and avid campers, decided to marry at their favourite place on the beautiful French River. In a twist on the destination wedding, they and their guests travelled north to a Lodge. Campfires, canoeing, swimming, cruising on a pontoon boat made up the weekend. Oh, yes, with a wedding, amazing food and drink, and socializing in there too.
With so much summer left to enjoy this June wedding was a perfect beginning.
If you choose to marry any time in the summer, however, it’s likely that June will still be filled with bridal business. Our other daughter’s August nuptials kept us busy all season long with parties, showers, and planning. The anticipation and excitement filled the summer in such a lovely way.
So for the beginning of June this photo collection celebrates brides of every season.
